The New Pornographers Part Ways With Drummer Kurt Dahle

kurt dahle new pornographers quits

Something must be in the water that’s causing band members to quit. Last month, Death Cab for Cutie co-founder Chris Walla announced that he’d be leaving the band after their Rifflandia Festival appearance this past Saturday night. Now the New Pornographers — whose new record, Brill Bruisers, was released in August — have announced that the band’s drummer, Kurt Dahle, has departed the group for good after a 15-year run.

“Kurt Dahle is leaving the New Pornographers,” the band wrote on Facebook over the weekend. “It has been a great 15 years playing with an amazing drummer, singer and performer. We wish him the best. Everything is still full steam ahead with the band and we look forward to continued rocking and singing of songs.”

Not much else is known about Dahle’s departure at the moment, but the drummer did play with the New Pornographers ten days ago at New York City’s famous Brill Building, after which their album was named. In other news, the band’s lead singer, Carl Newman took time out of his busy schedule over the weekend to explain the origins of the New Pornographers’ name to his Twitter followers. Check out his explanation below.
