Though no official street date has been announced, Beck will return this summer with his yet-to-be titled follow up to 2006's The Information. The new album, according to a statement, is a 10-track set clocking in at just over 30 minutes, and features the production wizardry of none other than knob-twiddler extraordinaire and Gnarls Barkley mastermind, Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton.
Rampant online speculation states the album could arrive at any time, and may feature contributions from Cat Power.
And on the live front, this summer is a busy one for Beck; In addition to appearances at Seattle's Bumbershoot, San Francisco's Outside Lands Festivals, and Austin City Limits, Mr. Hanson has unveiled a special Sept. 20 gig at the Hollywood Bowl with Spoon and MGMT, which is his first headlining show of the season.
Just when you thought the lineup for Sub Pop's 20th birthday party couldn't get any better, officials drop a bomb -- the Vaselines! That's right, the Scottish indie-pop pioneers, best known as a personal favorite of Kurt Cobain (Nirvana covered many of their tunes, including "Molly's Lips"), have reunited and will highlight the anniversary fiesta with their first-ever U.S. performance. French punkers Les Thugs and reunited lo-fi indie rockers Eric's Trip have also been added to the must-see lineup, set to unroll on Marymoor Park (just outside Seattle) July 12 & 13.
