Nasimiyu Murumba draws from a wide array of influences — Talking Heads, Etta James, TV on the Radio, Dirty Projectors, and Fela Kuti among them — to craft her blend of free-folk, funk, and dream-pop. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, who hails from Minneapolis and spent some time honing her sound in New Orleans, released her debut full-length, Rules Aren’t Real, last year, and now she’s planning to drop a new EP on January 24, 2014. Co-produced by Andreas Gustafsson in Sweden and Ben Lorio in New Orleans, the dirt EP features a handful of guest appearances (including cameos by Rubblebucket’s Kalmia Traver and Big Easy bass crew Naughty Professor) and spans a total of five tracks. One such song is an earthy tune titled “Raise Your Arrow (The Hunt),” which is streaming below. Scroll down and press play for a peek at the dirt EP.
