Nas Dropping First Album for Def Jam

Rapper's new record -- out September 19 -- declares: Hip-Hop Is Dead.

Nas' much-anticipated follow-up to 2004's double album, Streets Disciple, finally has a release date. The album, which the rapper is currently recording, will be released on September 19 and will be Nas' first project for his new label, Def Jam. While Nas' camp has been mostly tight-lipped about the new album, a source close to the artist told Spin.com that while the album will likely be marketed by Def Jam, Nas' former label, Columbia, will have some involvement. Jay-Z, president of Def Jam, signed Nas to his label in January, shortly after the rappers quashed their long-standing beef.
