My Chemical Romance Splits With Drummer
News
New Jersey emo-rockers My Chemical Romance and drummer Bob Bryar have parted ways, the band announced on their website.
"We wanted this news to come from us and not some bullshit gossip site," guitarist Frank Iero wrote. "As of four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly."
Last December, the band's fourth album appeared to be on target for a Spring release, but now the remaining members are heading back into the studio, making a Fall 2010 on-sale date more likely. "We have been writing some very powerful new songs, so this week the four of us entered the studio once again, and what has been ending up on tape each night is some of the most exciting and honest work we have ever created," Iero continued.
Reps for MCR's label played seven new songs for SPIN staffers in December, which featured Bryar's drum work, but now, with the band writing and recording again, it's unclear how many of those tracks will make the final album.
At the time, Way spoke to SPIN.com about what to expect from the new material. Unlike 2006's The Black Parade, the singer promised that the new album would not be conceptual. "At this point, the best way to describe the new album is My Chemical Romance being the purest, most distilled version of itself," Way said. "No bells and whistles."
Thematically, Way said the music was influenced by the band members' New Jersey childhoods, the Springsteen-esque notion of "getting up and blowing out of town," and how "a band and an audience can be immortal through rock'n'roll, even if just for one night."
MCR previewed three new songs last August at a performance in Los Angeles -- with Bryar on drums -- including the Hives-inspired "Death By Disco." You can watch video of the performance here.

Some bands just go through drummers. it happens to the best and worst of bands. Yeah it sucks major f*ck monkeys but there's nothing we can do about it. I see that nobody has mention Matt at all. He was there at the beginning, Bob was there for the breakthrough and I can't wait to see who drums their revival.

"gods sake, calm down. I think you'll find that you have Bob mistaken for BRIAN. Who also left them, but I doubt you knew that. If anyone 'saved' Gerard from "excessive intoxication or even an overdose or something!" (which is the same thing by the way)it was him. If you'd ever seen Life on the murder scene or investigated this fandom any further than The Black Parade, you might just have picked up on this. It is the general opinion of fans everywhere that he left on good terms with the band, but then again we'd never know as they don't talk s**t about each other, and probably thank you not to do the same.
I would guess that your 13 right now, 14 if you're really immature. Maybe come back when you've stopped being such a teenie.
Meant with the sweetest irony, xx"

Brian left to become a stuntman a while ago (I can't remember exactly when, late last year at least). Seems like a weird career move, manager to stuntman. Made lots of people pretty upset and now that Bob left it makes it so much worse (if you get my drift here, not everyone will). He seemed kinda bitter about the whole deal from what I've seen but as I said before, they don't talk **** about eachother so I guess we'll never know

I'm on the verge of tears! This can only mean a disband. No band to me is better than My Chem cuz they aren't all superficial about all these groupies and houses and s**t! I don't think there will be another band like that for another few years (I hope nothin happens in 2012!) so I'm kinda sad to see the band coming to an end.

Bob is most likely injured and can't hit as hard anymore. He had an operation after his tendon ripped before a big show. It was probably mutual as the band needs a solid powerful drummer to be able to get the job done and bob knows he's injured and can't fully deliver. I'm sure it was very painful on both sides.

Oh why oh why oh WHYYYYYYYYY! Must the world come to an end? First the recession, then the Rev dies, now Bob Bryar leaves the band? Why couldn't the other MCR members have caught amnesia like that commercial says and fix whatever argument was between them and him? :( I hope they sound the same without Bob the Bryar with a new drummer. :(
