MSTRKRFT

Artist of the Day

Who? Toronto's electric MSTRKRFT (pronounced "masterkraft") is Death from Above 1979 bassist Jesse F. Keeler and DFA1979 producer, Al-P. The duo are releasing their first album of original material, The Looks.

What's the Deal? After remixing the tracks of other artists to create dance floor classics, MSTRKRFT comes into its own on their first album of entirely original sounds, The Looks. Looping vocals are delivered through a vocoder and layered over club-ready dance beats, eletro-tastic blips and wails, machine-gun blasts, and gravelly synths to move the feet of well-heeled hipsters and dancing queens alike.

Fun Fact: MSTRKRFT got noticed after remixing and electrifying indie rock heroes like Bloc Party, Metric, and Wolfmother.
