INTERVIEWSMoody Rock from the Steel City

by SPIN Staff

Spin listed Shade's Fedra EP in our Heavy Rotation section back in Dec. '04, and we were stoked to get a sneak peek at the follow-up, Arms Raised on Rooftops. Judging from the moody, fuzzy tune, "Little Cougar," the new record feels like a combo of neo-shoegazer guitar riffs, angsty, emotionally charged lyrics, and hints of more contemporary influences like Bloc Party. Rooftops will drop tonight at an album release party for lucky locals in the band's hometown of Pittsburgh, and nationally on Jan. 16. "Little Cougar" is inciting loads of enthusiasm here at Spin HQ as we sit complacently with our fingers glued to the repeat button. Check it out!
