Modest Mouse Set Sail with Music Video Contest

Following in the footsteps of fellow Rose City residents the Decemberists, whose music video fiasco landed the band's guitarist in a live TV axe battle to the death, nautical-tinged outfit Modest Mouse have partnered with mtvU for a green screen challenge, offering fans the opportunity to conjure original animation to backdrop the music video for "We've Got Everything," from the Modest Mouse's latest chart-topper, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
The contest, judged by members of the band -- yes, even Johnny Marr -- will honor the winner's digital production prowess with a high-def digital video camera and an exclusive video slot on mtvU and mtvU.com. Aspiring Gondrys, Jonzes, LaChapelles, and Rolstons can trek to mtvU.com to download footage provided by the band poised in front of a blank green screen, a.k.a. your digital canvas. But there's no time to waste, so fire up the Final Cut software. All entries must be submitted by Wednesday, May 9.
