Miguel Booked for ‘Saturday Night Live,’ No Complaints Here

Saturday Night Live is stepping up its game. After Justin Timberlake wrapped his reliably smooth and ratings-goosing turn as host and musical guest last weekend, the late-night sketch show revealed that French pop-outfit Phoenix will return to Studio 8H on April 7. Now SNL has confirmed that Alt-R&B crooner Miguel will take the stage the following week, on April 13.

The upcoming broadcast will be Miguel’s first time playing SNL, but the Kaleidoscope Dreamer has logged loads of on-camera experience, bringing his Grammy-winning, SPIN-approved “Adorn” to Letterman, Leno, the Grammys, and NPR’s Tiny Desk. Another late-night rendition of SPIN’s No. 6 Best Song of 2012 is pretty much guaranteed, but the PBR&B prince could draw on one of the many other seductive cuts from his 50 Best Albums of 2012-honored sophomore effort. “Do You…” or “Candles in the Sun” could make an intriguing encore. “Pussy Is Mine” is most likely off the table, though.

Vince Vaughn will host the April 13 episode, marking his second turn as SNL‘s ringleader. The Internship star last hosted back in 1998, just after then-musical guest Lauryn Hill dropped The Miseducation and right around when Miguel hit puberty. Oh, how things have changed.
