Los Angeles quartet Midnight Movies, known for the hypnotic vocals of frontwoman Gena Olivier and their drowsy throwback to '70s rock, decided it was time for a pick-me-up. Currently on a nationwide tour to support the release of their sophomore effort, Lion the Girl (released yesterday on New Line), the band enlisted James Iha to mix up their single "Patient Eye" single. Iha's remix pours an energy drink down Olivier's throat and weaves an adrenaline shot behind her ghostly vox. The psychedelic daze of the original is transformed with layered beats and a slide guitar into a pumping club-worthy tune. Despite Iha turning the song into a pillow fight rather than a lullaby, the ethereal quality of Olivier's hypnotic vocals still dominates the track.
