Metro Station might always be remembered as the band that brought the world “Shake It,” a song that peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2008, but the group is now trying to stage a comeback with its new single, “Love & War.”
Led once again by Trace Cyrus (yes, Miley’s older brother, who she’s now starting to rival in the tattoo department), Metro Station certainly has the earworm-y beginnings of a hit here, with a pretty rudimentary chorus and series of accompanying “woah-oh-ohs” that are easy to remember. Cyrus’ vocals veer towards nasally at times, but the single — which today leaked early by mistake, according to a tweet by the elder Cyrus sibling — certainly sounds like it would fit in pretty comfortably on current Top 40 radio.
Metro Station made its last big showing in 2010, when Disney tapped the electro-pop band for its Alice in Wonderland soundtrack cut, “Where’s My Angel?”
