Metallica's Lars Ulrich

Metallica are about to add some more heavy metal to their trophy case. According to Rolling Stone, on May 2, the band will perform in the closing slot at the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. While there, the metal giants will also receive the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award. They’ll be peforming a the Club Nokia show alongside Anthrax, Stone Sour, Five Finger Death Punch, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Halestorm (both Anthrax and Halestorm are also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Hard Rock/Metal performance category).

“It would be very easy to think of a band like Metallica — being one of the biggest bands on the planet — to not really give a shit about this type of stuff,” Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian told Rolling Stone. “This will show the world in a big way that these guys never forgot who they are.” Wait a minute, what does that say about Axl Rose?
