Metallica Scrapbook Entire Career for ‘Complete Illustrated History’ Book

metallica, metallica: the complete illustrated history

If Metallica’s forthcoming 3D concert film, recent live DVD, annual Orion festival, and line of sneakers isn’t enough, here’s another bit of branded merchandise: The heavy metal icons’ entire 32-year history will be explored in an upcoming book titled Metallica: The Complete Illustrated History (out November 15).

According to publisher Voyageur Press, author Martin Popoff leads a lineup of respected metal writers who will dissect every studio LP in Metallica’s catalog (yes, even Lulu); the 192-page hardcover also features more than 300 images paired with anecdotes from the band’s three-decade-plus lifespan. The dismissal of Dave Mustaine, Cliff Burton’s death, the departure of Jason Newsted, the group’s early club gigs, extensive world tours, multi-platinum sales — it’s all there.

Fans can expect loads of photographs — candids and concert shots alike — plus a “stunning selection” of Metallica memorabilia, including gig posters, t-shirts, picture sleeves, backstage passes, buttons, ticket stubs, and more. Metallica: The Complete Illustrated History might not hit bookshelves until November 15, but Amazon pre-orders are now available. Nothing else matters.
