Meek Mill Returns With Introspective ‘From Da Bottom’

Less than three months after Meek Mill unveiled his major label debut Dreams & Nightmaresthe 15th best hip-hop album of 2012 according to us — the Philly rapper and Rick Ross protégé is on the verge of returning again with a new mixtape titled Dreamchasers 3, the third installment of his popular Maybach Music Group mixtape series. “From Da Bottom” is the first piano-laden first single from the mixtape, and it features Guordan, a recent signee to Meek’s Dreamchasers Records, on the hook (via Nah Right).

On the track, Mill yell-raps about slinging crack on Philly streets and comparing his skills to a Michael Jordan fadeaway. Other than an unfortunate instance where Meek rhymes “Cocaine” with “I’m Cobain, I’m blowing up, I’m doing my own thing,” “From Da Bottom” is an introspective and borderline inspirational rags-to-riches story, something you wouldn’t expect from Scarface-indebted MMG and their cartel swagger. No release date yet for Dreamchasers 3, but check out “From Da Bottom”:
