Mary J. Blige Takes Disclosure to Church in ‘F for You’ Video

Mary J. Blige, Disclosure, "F for You"

Disclosure’s Settle amply showcases the brotherly London dance-pop duo’s savviness for guest vocalists, but their new collaboration with Mary J. Blige brings a different energy. The R&B vocal master, who actually has a gospel award in her Grammy collection, helps connect the suave house of the album’s “F for You” to the fine tradition of dance tracks boasting gospel-powered singing from the likes of Loleatta Holloway or CeCe Penniston. Disclosure and Blige debuted the updated fool-for-you number live in New York City over the weekend. The studio version’s Jamie Clark-directed video smoothly draws Blige into the duo’s visual world of chalk-outline faces. Finally.

The BRIT– and Grammy-nominated team of Guy and Howard Lawrence also recently produced New York rapper Bishop Nehru’s “You Stressin’,” which you can hear below. What’s more, The Vinyl Factory points out (via FACT) the siblings are set to release a 12-inch version of Settle‘s Jamie Woon-fronted “January” on January 24. The single will also include a remix of “January” by Canadian producer Kaytranada and can be pre-ordered from Disclosure’s site.
