U.K. crooner Sam Smith has outdone his performance on Saturday Night Live. Back in March, the 22-year-old Essex native belted out "Stay With Me" alongside a gospel choir, and last night he one-upped himself at the Apollo Theater in New York City by bringing out R&B icon Mary J. Blige. The stalwart soul singer quietly made her way onstage toward the end of Smith's set, which occurred on the same day as the U.S. release of his debut LP, In the Lonely Hour. All we've got is some shaky fan-shot footage of the duet, but it's still clear that Smith's a bit in awe of Blige — and who could blame him?
