Major Internet Music Site Busted

A major file-sharing site was shut down today by Swedish police, and three individuals affiliated with the site were taken in for questioning on suspicion of breaking copyright law or abetting others in breaking copyright law. John Kennedy, head of Sweden's International Federation of Phonogram and Videogram Producers (IFPI) told Reuters that the Pirate Bay network was the world's largest search index using the vastly popular BitTorrent software, which allows for easy (but illegal) downloads of movies and music. Sweden shifted its copyright laws last year to ban the downloading of copyright material after being singled out by Hollywood for its lax attitude on the subject.
