Freddie Gibbs and Madlib found a real groove together on Pińata, a street-rap epic that combines the deft stylings of an Indiana-reared MC who's drawn more than a few comparisons to 2Pac and a visionary producer whose blunted beats continually color West Coast hip-hop. That release made our Best Albums of 2014 So Far list, and now it's spawned a beautifully shot music video for the standout track, "Deeper." Seen above, the Jonah Schwartz-directed clip takes a page from the lyrics and depicts Gibbs in prison, reflecting back on a wrong turn in a relationship that could've generated a much more positive future for the man. Watch above, and read our recent rare interview with Madlib about Pińata, jazz, Kanye West, and his future moves.
