No spoilers here, unless you need the song placements in your favorite shows' closing credits to remain a mystery until viewing. Sunday night's episode of Mad Men, dubbed "A Day's Work," wrapped up with a timeless number from an era-appropriate act: "This Will Be Our Year," by the Zombies.
The group led by Rod Argent and Colin Bluntstone are, of course, best known for their 1968 single "Time of the Season." Miguel did a version of that track for Kaleidoscope Dream; it's also been sampled by everyone from Eminem to ScHoolboy Q to Necro. But for the otherwise unitiated, the AMC placement of that lesser-known '68 single offers reason aplenty to take a longer look at the English outfit, who were peers to the Kinks, the Beatles, and the Yardbirds.
Also, it seems safe to say the poster art for Mad Men's seventh season is inspired in part by the cover of the Zombies album that contained both tunes: Odessey and Oracle. Awesomely, a recent trailer for Mad Men featured the voice of cult soul man Darondo.
