Hear Lucius Cover Tears For Fears’ ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’

Brooklyn pop outfit reanimates the new wave classic

By: Isabel Imperatore // June 30, 2014

Lucius recently wowed us at Governors Ball 2014 with a cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” and now the Brooklyn quintet have revived another ’80s classic: Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.” The new-new wave track favors minimalist synths and inspired vocal harmonies courtesy of singers Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe. Stream the magnetic remake — which serves as the B-side for Lucius’ upcoming “Genevieve” 7″ — below. The limited-edition vinyl drops July 1 via Mom + Pop/Dine Alone Records, and is currently available for pre-order.
