Watch Lost in the Trees’ Terrifying ‘Past Life’ Video

lost in the trees, past life, video, new album

Lost in the Trees have slimmed down in the time since 2012’s A Church That Fits Our Needs. What was once an orchestral-folk six-piece is now an electro-rock foursome that values minimalism and pulsing grooves. But under the leadership of frontman Ari Picker, the North Carolina unit retains its richness — for proof, look no further than the music video for “Past Life,” the title track from Lost in the Trees’ upcoming third album.

Directed by Dan Huiting and Andre Durand, the dazzling visual follows a mysterious hooded figure on a drive down a dark road. Like the lyric video for Lost in the Trees’ recent “Rites” single (via Rolling Stone), it’s a haunting short that commands attention. Watch it above.

Past Life is out February 18 on Anti-. Pre-orders for the LP — which was produced by Nicolas Vernhes (credits include Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors, and Wye Oak) — are currently available through iTunes and the Anti- store.
