Lonnie Holley has belonged to the outsider artist movement for more than 30 years, working in a variety of mediums including sculpture, photography, painting, and drawing. Last year, the 63-year-old Alabama native released his debut album, Just Before Music, and next month he'll unveil its follow-up, Keeping a Record of It. Due September 3 from Dust to Digital, the seven-track LP features the previously heard "Six Space Shuttles and 144,000 Elephants" and the freshly shared "From the Other Side of the Pulpit." Spanning more than 13 minutes, the new track features instrumental work from Deerhunter's Bradford Cox and the Black Lips' Cole Alexander, who augment Holley's guttural howl with a creepy-crawler melody and percussion that threatens to veer off the rails at any moment. "Trying to keep food on the table," Holley barks over the on-the-cheap-sounding epic. "Trying to keep some in the refrigerator too / Losing all my money and I don't know what to do."

Stream it below, and scroll further to watch a teaser video for Keeping a Record of It, which co-stars Cox and Alexander. Both ATL garage-punks also joined Holley onstage with Animal Collective's Avey Tare earlier this week (via Pitchfork). Pre-orders of Keeping a Record of It are currently available via iTunes.
