Lollapalooza Style File

Fashion tips from the sunny grounds of Lollapalooza.

There's definitely no dress code at Lollapalooza. Concert kids dodge the 80-degree heat, their own sweat, and other's beer cups while still trying to look cute enough to convince themselves that Kanye West or Leslie Feist will want to sleep with them.

Like any outdoor festival involving sun and crowds, you can't go wrong with a t-shirt and shorts. Sure you're protected, but isn't that a bit boring for a festival with tens of thousands of people to impress? Lollapalooza also presents its own unique challenges, though.

And that's where SPIN.com comes in to help. The following collection of festival fashion finds should give you a taste of must-have style if you're coming to Lollapalooza tomorrow, next year, or just playing dress-up with "Crazy" pulsing through your iPod. KURT SOLLER / PHOTOS BY RACHEL AHERIN

Rock those funky sunglasses. With the sun in your eyes, there's no point in backing down shyly with plain black shades. Take this cue from Lollapaloozer Lexi Kirsch: "I don't wear them for sun," the 19-year-old said. "I wear them for style."

Keep it simple. You're here for the music, not the runway. It's worth noting that cotton clothing is always the best bet. Make it through the day by just rocking a simple tank top and shorts -- hopefully matching. It's a great way to cover up that bikini too many girls were wearing, as long as the shorts aren't compensating by riding up your ass. Here's one example of a nice, simple outfit.

Wear a sundress. It doesn't matter if it's plaid, plain, tie-dyed or teal -- a simple piece of fabric is all you need to look cool while staying cool. "Yesterday, I had on a tank-top and a skirt and I was hot," said 20-year-old Conee Pratt.

Slap on a bandana. They're unisex, they're western, and they let that sweaty greasy hair shine. "I hate hats, but I have to keep my hair out of my face," Craig Giunta, 20, said. He also has some more fashion advice for the guys: "Don't do the male ponytail."
