Lithuania Bring the Power-Pop Crunch With ‘Pieces’

Lithuania

Fuzz-rock outfit Lithuania marks the dual side project of Eric Slick, drummer for Dr. Dog in his other life, and Dominic Angelella, songwriter for DRGN KING. Slick’s timekeeping roots are evident from the opening bars of first single “Pieces,” a pounding intro where the cascading guitars are nearly as percussive as the skins themselves. But the song is no slave to the rhythm, bursting with melody and ’90s-era rock/pop sheen as Slick sings “Go where you know the water flows / And it seems to make you / Disappear into a million pieces.” It’d give you Buzz Bin acid flashbacks even if it didn’t have a lo-fi skater lyric video to accompany it.
