UK electronic icons Underworld are returning with a new studio album later this year, and its first single, "Scribble," was released over the weekend as both a free MP3 download and a music video. Download and watch below!

The track finds the duo of vocalist Karl Hyde and producer/composer Rick Smith going outside their inner circle and collaborating with Welsh-born drum'n'bass maven High Contrast. The resulting track melds a gorgeous, sunny vocal hook from Hyde -- "And it's okay," he sings, "you give me everything I need" -- with a skippy, synth-based backing track.

There's a faint hint of the New Age-y, late-'90s dance music of Robert Miles on "Scribble," but it's re-imagined by Underworld and High Contrast in a cleverly nostalgic way -- much like Daft Punk whimsically channeled '70s disco on 2001's Discovery.

Watch the video below -- featuring extreme close-ups of the gregarious, easy-to-adore Karl Hyde -- and click here to download a free MP3 from Underworld's site, in exchange for your email address.

Underworld will begin to take the wraps off their new material with a series of festival gigs this summer in Europe and Australia. Click here for dates.
