Last night, in the first-ever TV concert to celebrate the unveiling of the Grammy nominees, Lil Wayne, who’s already poised to walk with 2008’s best selling album, led the pack with eight nods, including Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for his blockbuster Tha Carter III.

Brit rockers and former SPIN cover boys Coldplay followed close behind with seven noms (including Album of the Year for Viva La Vida), while Kanye West and Jay-Z each took six. Radiohead received four nominations, thanks to their pay-what-you-want record, In Rainbows.

Elsewhere, current SPIN cover girl M.I.A. picked up a sole Record of the Year nomination for “Paper Planes,” while Danger Mouse, Nigel Godrich, Rick Rubin, and will.i.am scored Producer of the Year nods, and former SPIN cover girl Duffy was honored with a Best New Artist nomination.

You can check out a full list of the nominees here. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards air on CBS Feb. 8 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
