Lil Boosie Will Walk Free in August 2014

Lil Boosie, release date, jail

Lil Boosie hasn’t been able to put out new music in a few years, but the incarcerated rapper himself now has a release date.

The Louisiana Department of Safety and Corrections shows August 18, 2014, as the day the Baton Rouge MC can walk out a free man, according to The Times-Picayune. That comes after widespread speculation that Boosie would leave prison in November turned out to be false.

Lawyers for Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, had said in September that he would be free by early 2014. He’s serving an eight-year sentence after a 2011 guilty plea on drug charges. He first ended up in prison in 2009, sentenced to four years on an earlier drug-related guilty plea. A jury last year found Boosie not guilty of murder, in a case where his lyrics were ruled admissible in court.

When Boosie gets out, he could have a record deal waiting for him. Rick Ross hinted at the possible November release in a radio interview a few months ago. “I’m going to put a bag on the table for that boy,” the Maybach Music Group boss told Power 105.1. “You never know.”

Boosie will certainly have an eager and loyal fan base waiting for him whenever he finally gets out of prison. The Free Boosie Twitter account alone has almost 140,000 followers.
