Liam Gallagher Disses Radiohead: “Give Me a Break”

Liam Gallagher has never censored his thoughts on musicians like the The Strokes and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or U2 and the Rolling Stones. Now, with his new band Beady Eye in full-on promotional mode for their new record, Gallagher has set his sights on his next target: Radiohead.

In an interview with the Quietus, Gallagher takes aim at Thom Yorke’s lyric-writing skills. “I heard that Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’ I like to think that what we do, we do fucking well. Them writing a song about a fucking tree? Give me a fucking break!” said Gallagher, referring to the band’s new album The King of Limbs and the single “Lotus Flower.” “You’d have thought [Yorke would] have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?”

Elsewhere in the interview, Gallagher ripped into Mumford and Sons and their humble behavior after winning Album of the Year at this year’s Brit Awards in February — although he seemed to approve of their music. “I think it’s alright [that they won] but they were fucking ashamed about winning and that’s the fucking sad bit,” he said. “They bow their heads down going, ‘Oh, we don’t deserve it,’ like a fucking dick. What’s that about? You must have seen it before so don’t pretend like you’ve just come out of a cider apple factory… Still, it’s better than Take That [winning], isn’t it?”
