Watch Lenny Kravitz’s No-Frills Cover of the Beatles’ ‘Get Back’

Lenny Kravitz 'Get Back' Letterman Beatles Week video

The Late Show With David Letterman‘s week-long tribute to the Beatles continued last night with a little help from Lenny Kravitz, who turned in a straightforward cover of the Fab Four’s “Get Back.” Paul Shaffer joined in on organ, adding a little flair to Kravitz’s signature moves.

The Beatles are being honored in advance of the 50th anniversary of their historic performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, which took place on February 9, 1964. Over 70 million people tuned in to see the quartet perform five songs (“Get Back” was not one of them, as it wasn’t written until five years later). Previously on Letterman, Broken Bells showed up to perform a synth-heavy version of “And I Love Her,” while Sting stopped by for a duet on “Drive My Car” with neo-soul singer Ivy Levan. Sean Lennon and the Flaming Lips are slated to perform “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” tonight, while rumor has it that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will take the stage Friday.
