For Saturday's Record Store Day, Franz Ferdinand will release Covers, which features takes on the British band's songs by Peaches, ESG, Blondie's Debbie Harry, and others. LCD Soundsystem - who just called it quits with their final live show at New York's Madison Square Garden - contributed a rendition of "Live Alone," which hit the web today (via Pitchfork).

James Murphy and his ace band take Franz' peppy punk-funk number and stretch it out into a brooding, seven-minute disco-banger, spiked with rumbling bass riffs, spacey synths, and stabs of electric guitar. LCD's contribution to the EP makes sense: Franz Ferdinand recorded a version of LCD's classic "All My Friends" back in 2008.

As indie retail shops prep for Record Store Day this weekend, check out SPIN's picks for 10 must-have releases.
