Lady Gaga is gearing up to release her new album, Born This Way, in early 2011. What can fans expect? Well, according to the "Poker Face" pop star, a venture into a new musical genre: rock'n'roll.

She tells RWD magazine that "You and I," a track from the upcoming LP that she's been playing live (watch a video performance below!), is "a really big rock'n'roll hit." "I do have these hopes that it could be a great rock crossover record," she says of the anthemic piano ballad. "I'm going to put my producer's hat on and get it to a place where I feel like it could reach the masses. It's a beautiful, beautiful lyric and melody."

Gaga added that she's "on the quest to create the anthem for my generation for the next decade."

"The album is my absolute greatest work I've ever done and I'm so excited about it. The message, the melodies, the direction, the meaning, what it will mean to my fans and what it will mean in my own life -- it's utter liberation."

Gaga added, "Everyone tells me I'm arrogant but my music's the only thing I've got, so you'll have to let me be confident about one thing. I suppose that's what you can expect from the album: a lot of hit records that will piss people off."

In addition to music, Gaga is also focusing on politics, supporting the effort to abolish the U.S. military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law, which suppresses homosexuality in the armed forces. On Friday, she released a moving video to YouTube, in which she addresses senators and urges her fans to oppose John McCain's "shameless filibuster."

"Ultimately, the law is being enforced by gay profiling," she says. "Our fight is a continuum of the ever-present equal rights movement. I am here to be a voice for my generation, not the generation of the senators who are voting, but for the youth of this country, who will be affected by this law."
