At last, those residing outside of Philadelphia can experience that whole Kurt Vile parade thingamajig. The Philadelphia string-strummer's new video for "KV Crimes" — directed by Tom Scharpling of The Best Show on WMFU — was shot during April's public march in the dude's honor, and it features a crown-wearing Vile being toted around on a makeshift throne. Mock servants walk next to him holding banners as he experiences a day truly fit for a king, which naturally involves receiving a hoagie on a golden platter and getting pushed on a swing. The track is the latest single off SPIN Essential Wakin' on a Pretty Daze — it follows "Never Run Away" and the album's sprawling title(ish) track.
The City of Philadelphia also announced today that this coming August 28 will be Kurt Vile Day — according to Matador, he will receive the city's Liberty Bell Award before performing a free show in the courtyard of City Hall. That is, admittedly, a bit cooler than having one of SPIN's top albums of 2013 so far.
