Kings of Leon Promise ‘Youthful’ New Album for September

kings of leon, new album

Kings of Leon have been quiet for some time — the Southern rockers’ most recent LP, Come Around Sundown, arrived in October 2010 — but the “Sex On Fire” four-piece are planning a comeback this fall. According to bassist Jared Followill, the Nashville outfit have finished their upcoming sixth album, which is currently being sequenced and is due sometime in September.

“I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I’m amazed how youthful it sounds,” Followill told the NME recently, adding that the impending effort sounds like a mix of the band’s 2003 debut Youth and Young Manhood and 2007’s breakthrough full-length Because of the Times.

Before Kings of Leon return to the Billboard charts, however, they’ll be hitting the festival circuit this summer, making stops at New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival, Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival, and California’s Bottle Rock Music & Arts Festival, in addition to playing a slew of dates overseas, where they will no doubt test-drive new material.
