Kings of Leon Recruit Jimmy Fallon to Hawk New Album ‘Mechanical Bull’

Kings of Leon Jimmy Fallon Announce New Album 'Mechanical Bull'

After promising us a “youthful” new album later this year, Kings of Leon have announced more details on what will be the band’s sixth full-length release.

With the help of Late Night host Jimmy Fallon in a ferocious finger-pointing infomercial, the Tennessee “Sex on Fire” quartet revealed Mechanical Bull will be out September 24. It was produced by longtime production and songwriting collaborator Angelo Petraglia, who has been on board with the Southern rockers since 2007’s breakout Because of the Times. They recorded the new material in KOL’s studio in Nashville.

There have been few sneak peeks of the new record, which is their first since 2010’s Come Around Sundown. Last month brought hard-charging the “Always the Same” to Bottle Rock Fest. On Saturday the Kings unleashed the steady, swaggering (and ironically named “Supersoaker”) at New York City’s Governors Ball after tropical rains forced the festival to push back band’s set Friday night.
