Watch the Killers’ Hit-or-Miss ‘Shot at the Night’ on ‘Kimmel’

The Killers took a “Shot at the Night” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 12, performing one of two new songs featured on their just-released Direct Hits compilation. By now, nearly a decade beyond 2004’s Hot Fuss, the Las Vegas foursome know their way around an arena, but last night’s TV appearance came off as a bit lifeless. As seen in the clip above, Brandon Flowers did his best to work the crowd, pumping his fist in the air and flashing those pearly whites for the camera, but the anemic verses on “Shot at the Night” left the frontman with little to do but pace the outdoor Sony stage back and forth. The performance wasn’t a misstep by any means; the stakes just felt a little low compared to, say, the track’s cinematic music video starring Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows, Australia’s Neighbours) and Max Minghella (The Social Network, The Internship). But we may just be a little disappointed that the song’s producer, M83 main man Anthony Gonzalez, didn’t make a cameo appearance.
