Hold on to your (Santa) hats: Nevada's masters of pomp-rock, the Killers, will record a Christmas single with piano-pop mega-star Elton John, NME.com reports [via The Sun]. Although details are unconfirmed, reports claim the yet-to-be-recorded single will be titled "Joseph, Better You Than Me," and will arrive just in time for the holiday season. A band spokesperson did not return calls by press time.

The song will be the third consecutive Christmas single the Killers have released, following 2006's cheery "A Great Big Sled" and last year's slightly-more-grim-sounding "Don't Shoot Me Santa." Brandon Flowers and Co. have previously discussed plans to release an annual Christmas single until enough material is gathered for a full-length holiday album -- although one has to imagine it will be a different Day and Age before the collection drops.

What's more is the Killers' website is currently streaming "Human," the dance-tinged first single from their forthcoming record. Listen to the entire track here. And be sure to sound off on the band's new sound in the comment section below.
