As is often the case with great rock'n'rollinnovations, thirty-somethings Maura Jasper and Hilken Mancinifound their creative inspiration in alcohol. "We'dspend many a drunken night pogoing to Eater or Gang of Four and becompletely out of breath," says Mancini. "We thought ifthere were a workout class that played this music, we'd be sobuff." After taking their do-it-yourself regimen to thenightclubs of Boston, New York, and London, the duo now have theirown book, Punk Rock Aerobics, filled with dozens ofeasy-to-follow exercise steps (including the "Sid-Up"and the "Teenage Kick"), and instructional interviewswith such able-bodied punks as Mike Watt and Thurston Moore. Trystarting with the low-impact move at right to boost your raw power.
