The Notorious B.I.G. was killed 18 years ago today, and Kendrick Lamar commemorated the solemn anniversary by spitting an incredible freestyle over the beat from Biggie’s “The What.” Lamar, who just announced the release date for his highly anticipated upcoming album, went on Big Boy’s Real 92.3 radio show to rap over a few of the iconic rapper’s beats, and he unleashed a few passionate political verses over the 1994 song. “From Compton to Congress, it’s set trippin’ all around,” the “i” rapper spit. “Ain’t nothin’ new but a flow of Democrips and Rebloodicans / Red state versus blue state, which one you governing?” Listen to the full freestyle above.
