The fallout from Kendrick Lamar's "Control" guest verse continues. After throwing down the gauntlet against pretty much every rapper alive, the good kid, m.A.A.d city scribe has already inspired response tracks from Lupe Fiasco, B.o.B, Joell Ortiz, and Papoose, among many others — not to mention a faux-reply from Riff Raff, and, in an instance of memes colliding, his very own Hitler parody video. Now, Uncle Murda and Joe Budden have piled onto the reactionary heap with their own correctives to the Compton-reared Kendrick's "King of New York" boast. Stretching out over a piano-plinked beat, Murda tips his hat to Kendrick ("This is exactly what the game needed / Everybody want to be homeboys / Rap is competition") before dismissing the California MC's claim to the East Coast throne ("Yeah, I heard what Kendrick said / But lil' homie ain't a threat / Maybe if Game or Snoop said it / Then I'd be more upset"). Meanwhile, Budden hops directly onto "Control," adopting a glaringly obvious title ("Lost Control") and rattling off a gruff, seemingly endless freestyle. Two more lyrical exchanges in a bicoastal turf dispute — the more things change, the more they stay the same. Stream both tracks below.
