Katy Perry leads the pack for the 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards with nine nominations, including Video of the Year and Best Female Video for "Firework," plus multiple nods for "E.T. (Featuring Kanye West)" and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." The show will air live from Los Angeles on MTV on August 28 at 9 P.M./ET. See the full nominees list below.

Adele and Kanye West also scored big, with seven nods each. The British pop star nabbed nominations for her "Rolling in the Deep" video, while West racked up nods for "Power" and "All of the Lights," along with his "E.T." collaboration with Perry.

While Katy Perry, Kanye, and Adele were predictable nominees, Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator is one the most surprising contenders: He's up for Video of the Year for his explicit, gross-out clip "Yonkers." Other first-time nominees include Foster the People for "Pumped Up Kicks" (Best New Artist), Kreayshawn ("Gucci Gucci"), and Manchester Orchestra for "Simple Math" (Best Editing, Best Special Effects).
