Kanye West Pushes Tour to Finish New Album

Kanye West Postpones Tour New Album

It’s been over nine months since Kanye West released Yeezus and the man seems busier than ever. After dropping by SXSW with Jay Z, he’s working on his wedding, posing for Vogue, and hunting down the rascals who invented the Internet currency Coinye West. On top of all that, he’s hard at work on his follow-up to SPIN’s 2013 Album of the Year, which is planned for a 2014 release.

Details on the LP are still vague, but West is devoting so much time to it that he postponed a May tour of Australia. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, concert promoter Live Nation released the following statement: “Due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release, Kanye West regretfully announces the postponement of his upcoming tour dates in Australia.”

In case you were skeptical considering today’s date, they followed it up with a tweet, saying, “Just to clarify, this is definitely not an April Fools joke.”

Rumor has it that Q-Tip and Rick Rubin are contributing production to the new LP. Back in December, West spoke on it during a stop at Miami’s Art Basel: “I think my next album is going to be eight songs. It’s just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can’t take anything else away. [Yeezus] was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here.”

With all things related to Kanye, expect quite a few surprises. Meantime, his rescheduled Australia dates with Pusha T are below.
