Converse Chuck Taylor’s may be the benchmark sneaker for the hipster elite, but their reigning deity, former Smiths and current Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr, is a devout PF Flyers fan and has now partnered with his preferred shoe company to design a special limited edition model to benefit charity, NME.com reports. “I’ve been wearing PF Flyers onstage for quite awhile and to come up with a design on a sneaker that will also benefit a charity that is important to me is an exciting opportunity,” Marr said. Proceeds from the shoe, which will be rolled out in a very limited 108 pairs in both the U.K. and the U.S., will benefit the Cure Autism Now and the Pictor School, a Manchester, England-based school for children with special needs. The Marr designed shoe will be available July 10 for purchase via both of the charities’ websites.
