Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘True Detective’ Spoof Desecrates Daniel Johnston Mural
Seth Rogen appears in SXSW-themed "sequel" for hit HBO show
Like everyone looking for a bit of exposure this week, Jimmy Kimmel is in Austin, filming his late-night show during SXSW. Thankfully, he has yet to pull any viral video pranks à la that twerk fail (that we know of), opting instead to come up with an Austin-based sequel to HBO’s recently wrapped True Detective. Kimmel stars in the no-B.S. Woody Harrelson role while guest Seth Rogen takes on the strangely deep and deeply strange Matthew McConaughey character, investigating a heinous crime against Daniel Johnston’s famed “Hi How Are You?” frog mural. We won’t spoil the fun, but we will say you should be prepared for references to Cher, Cyndi Lauper, and Sixpence None the Richer. Luckily, there’s enough Lone Star in Austin to keep Detective Cohle satisfied.
