Watch Jack White Materialize on 'Portlandia'

Third Man head makes 'Field of Dreams'-style cameo

The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds is one of those albums that makes people go a little crazy. Hell, it helped inspire the Beatles to record Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, right? On Friday night's Portlandia, Fred Armisen plays a character who has bought up loads of vintage equipment — some of it used "on Pet Sounds, and a lot of Beatles-type stuff." Following the logic of "if you build it, they will come," all Armisen's fabulously mustachioed recording impresario just needs "to attract that one important artist, but it hasn't happened yet." And then, suddenly, he does, and, as you know if you've clicked on this post, it's Jack White. He just sort of stands there in the lightly falling snow. Did we mention Pet Sounds?
