Jack White’s longtime keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens died of a heart attack last month. This week, White honored the beloved musician during his tour-ending concert in London. Telling the crowd that “Ikey” was still with them, the Third Man Records founder then asked fans to “give it up, please, for him, if you don’t mind,” before launching into a performance of “Love Interruption” off of his solo debut Blunderbuss to thunderous applause. An audience member captured the tribute, which you can see at about the 4:40 mark on the video above.
Owens, who was also a member of the Mars Volta and Free Moral Agents, was White’s go-to touring keyboardist. He died in his Puebla, Mexico, hotel room on October 14. White canceled the rest of his Mexico shows following his bandmate’s death, and Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita replaced him on the just-concluded European tour.
