Despite the fact that hordes of Glastonbury attendees tried to oust Metallica from their headlining slot, as Consequence of Sound points out, Jack White showed some support during his own Saturday set in the form of a cover of their 1991 track "Enter Sandman."

During a performance of the White Stripes track "Cannon," White wove in a pretty significant portion of the Black Album track in his own unhinged garage rock fashion.

Fans were displeased with the fest's choice to book Metallica after news of that singer James Hetfield would be providing the voiceover for a History Channel document after an Alaskan Bear Hunt. But White's cover of their classic served a pretty potent afternoon reminder of why they were even booked in the first place.

This cover follows his recent tribute to another classic rock godhead, Led Zeppelin, at his first Lazaretto tour stop in Oklahoma.

Watch footage of "Enter Sandman" around the 45-minute mark of the video above.
