Ten days after celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary, Jack White and Karen Elson have announced they will be getting divorced. But the two are ending their marriage in an unconventional style: They're throwing a party.
Tonight, White, 35, and Elson, 32, are hosting a get together in Nashville, TN, to celebrate their "divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger." The fete is set to include dancing, photos, memories and "drinks with alcohol in them." Unfortunately, only close family friends and family are invited to the event - "no plus ones or dead beats." On a more serious note, the couple - who have two children together, Scarlett (age 5) and Henry Lee (age 3) - issued a statement about their split: "We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow."
White and Elson married on June 1, 2005, in a ceremony overseen by a shaman in Manaus, Brazil.
A rep for White did not offer further details on the split or the party, saying: "[It] is exactly what the invitation says it is.... a gathering of their close friends and family."
