Iggy Azalea’s recent sex tape fiasco is all the proof we need that it’s necessary to read everything you sign your name to very, very carefully. According to the rapper’s ex boyfriend and former manager Jeff Wine, with whom she allegedly stars in the still unseen tape, the Aussie rap star signed away the rights to all recorded material, video or otherwise, to him.
Wine spoke to TMZ today and told them that the signed agreement gave him the right to “manufacture, sell, distribute and advertise ‘any’ recording embodying visual images,” which he also takes to include their dirty home video as long as he lays a track that he owns underneath it and markets it thusly.
It’s a slimy, slip-through-the-cracks kind of deal that’s sure to have Iggy’s lawyers rifling through legal briefs today to prevent the tape’s release. The “Fancy” star commented on the video’s existence earlier this week, claiming on Twitter that she didn’t have a sex tape in the first place, but she’s remained unsurprisingly mum on the matter since more details have surfaced.
