Cross-genre collaborations are all the rage these days — just ask Coldplay and Jay-Z. And now Hot Chip are mixing things up by joining forces with U.K. folk legend (and founder of ’60s prog rock band Soft Machine) Robert Wyatt for a free holiday EP. [via Uncut.com]

For the album, due next month, Wyatt reworked three of the band’s tracks, taking lead vocals on “Made in the Dark,” “Whistle for Will,” and “We’re Looking for a lot of Love,” all songs off Hot Chip’s latest set Made in the Dark. The record will also feature a remix of “One Pure Thought” by Geese.
