Hot Beef: Rock Band Band vs. Coheed and Cambria

The plastic instrument wielding stalwarts react to Coheed's burgeoning video game prowess, as illustrated in Spin's November issue.

Like many music-minded individuals, the members of faux outfit Rock Band Band -- the world's most influential rock outfit to rock plastic instruments -- picked up a copy of Spin's November issue last week and read assistant editor Kyle Anderson's feature on Coheed and Cambria, showcasing the prog-metal heroes trying their hands at Rock Band, the latest game from the creators of Guitar Hero. Reacting to the Coheed's infringement on their sole artistic arena, Rock Band Band -- chronicled in the VH1 special Rock Band Commeth: The Rock Band Band Story -- have fired back.

"They're okay," guitarist Max Griffiths told SPIN.com, "but they don't know anything about playing the plastic guitar." Bassist Shakti Lipschitz even pondered an actual challenge: "We could out-prog them in an all-night prog-a-thon. Blindfolded," the low-ender told SPIN.com. Coheed and Cambria was unavailable to react to the statements at press time.

Pick up a copy of the November issue of Spin to check out Coheed and Cambria honing their chops on Rock Band.
